La Vermontoise (ABV 6.0%) is the result of a collaboration between Brasserie de Blaugies and Vermont's Hill Farmstead Brewery. it is based on Blaugies' d'Epautre, which uses spelt (epautre) and barley malt in the mash and brewed with Amarillo hops, Pouring a hazy gold with a huge, cloudlike white head, the nose is grassy, peppery, and honeyed, with a hint of citrus from the hops. Taste is toasty, dry, and refreshing, with prickly carbonation. The hops are apparent more for their orange and pine notes than for any bitterness. Ratebeer.com rating: 97 (out of 100!) 750ml (corked) bottle.
